Summer Jobs Program
Jobs Program 2018
This year 200 students will have the opportunity to interview for one of 40 positions offered through the BGCKC Summer Jobs Program.
Currently, the BGCKC Summer Jobs Program is seeking local businesses interested in participating in the program. Business will have the opportunity to mentor a young person during this six-week paid internship over the summer! The BGCKC Summer Jobs Program is a partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County that provides intensive pre-employment training to youth in Bakersfield.
Following their training the students will be interviewed and the top 40 will be selected as our Summer Interns. Once on the worksite, interns will assist their employers with daily tasks, learn the basics of an entry level job, while gaining work experience.
If you have any questions about the current program or are interested in participating in the 2018 program, please contact Natalie Martinez at (661) 325-3730 ext. 222.
A paid intern for 20 hours each week for six weeks.
Through a PG&E grant, Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County covers ALL costs including: salary, worker compensation insurance, payroll processing and taxes.
Because the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County is the employer of record, all interns are pre-screened and documented as eligible to work in the US, and new hire registration completed.
Interns receive 10 weeks of basic pre-employment training before beginning the job and are work ready.
Interns are provided with a work uniform, appropriate to most work places.
With your permission, your business will be promoted in all media releases as part of this great project, benefiting the Bakersfield community.
